    Ingredients

    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • 1/3 cup shortening
    • 1 cup milk
    • [adinserter block="1"]

    Instructions

    1. Preheat your oven to 425°F.
    2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 tablespoon sugar.
    3. Cut in 1/3 cup shortening until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
    4. Gradually stir in 1 cup of milk until the dough pulls away from the bowl.
    5. On a floured surface, knead the dough gently about 20 times.
    6. Roll or pat the dough to 1-inch thickness and cut biscuits with a floured cutter or glass.
    7. Place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet, brush off excess flour.
    8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.

    Notes

On a floured surface, gently knead the dough until it's no longer sticky. Pat it out to your desired thickness and use a cutter to shape the biscuits. Place them on an ungreased baking sheet. Avoid Over-Mixing: Overworking the dough can lead to tough, flat biscuits. For light and fluffy biscuits, handle the dough gently and mix the milk into the flour mixture with care. Over-mixing will create dense, brick-like biscuits instead of the soft, flaky ones we all love. Follow these tips for bakery-quality biscuits every time!"
