Instructions
- Prepare the Pie Dough: In a bowl or food processor, combine the flour, salt, cold butter, and sugar. Gradually add cold water until a dough ball forms. Chill the dough in a cool place for 15 to 30 minutes while you prepare the apples.
- Prepare the Apples: Peel the apples and slice them into thin strips.
- Roll Out the Dough: Place the dough between two sheets of baking paper and roll it out with a rolling pin. Sprinkle brown sugar over the rolled dough.
- Assemble the Pie: Arrange the apple slices on top of the dough, leaving a 5 cm border around the edges. Fold the dough over the apples to create a rustic pie.
- Make the Brush Mixture: In a small bowl, mix melted butter, cinnamon, and sugar. Use a brush to apply the mixture over the pie and the folded edges of the dough.
- Bake the Pie: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake the pie for 45 minutes. If needed, pierce the pastry to allow excess juice from the apples to escape and help caramelize the pie.
